IN FOCUS - Junior Club |
|
Q - What happens at 6:45pm every Tuesday?
A - Junior Club takes place in the "Bethel" Sunday School building.
Q - Who is it for?
A - Any 7 to 11 year old who comes on a Sunday to Sunday School can take part in Tuesday club.
Q - What goes on?
A - Everything and anything! A programme of activities is planned every 6 months and includes games, quizzes, art, drama, swimming, outings plus a whole bag of other things.
Q - Does it cost anything?
A - 10 pence a week! That is all we ask. The church pays for all of the equipment and other activities. There is a tuck shop, but we restrict the amount that can be spent to 30p a week.
Q - Why do you do it?
A - All the leaders involved want to provide a safe place for the young people of the church to come and play, meet their friends and take part in new activities. We see the club as an important extension to the Sunday School.
Q - What about school the next day?
A - We understand that parents want their children to have a good night's rest before school, so club finishes no later than 8:30 and we make sure all the children are taken home directly.
Q - Who can I speak to in order to find out more?
A - At least one of the club leaders will be available on any Sunday to answer any questions you might have - Alternatively pop in and see us any Tuesday evening between 6:45 and 8:30.

THOUGHT - "Chocolate" |
|
There once was a Chocolatier. He devoted his life to creating
the most exquisite chocolates for other people to enjoy. Every
morning he would bring a gift of his latest chocolate creation
to a woman who lived nearby. More often than not he would not
sleep at night, but would stay up putting the finishing touches
to his gift. His chocolates were not like ordinary chocolates,
they were satisfying and wholesome. For example L'Arbre Chocolat
(The tree of chocolate) - Enveloped in the smoothest milk chocolate,
and crafted into shapes as beautiful as nature itself, is a mouth
watering medley of all the sweetest fruits of the forest. Or
Chocolat Crème Du Coeur (Cream chocolate heart) - Deep rich dark
chocolate forms the bed for this, the most divine chocolate
experience ever, capturing the essence of every feeling felt by
a human heart through the longest lasting loving relationship and
finished off with crisp flakes of white chocolate.
The woman visited by the Chocolatier was his daughter. Every morning
she would open the door, look straight at the box of chocolates and
snatch them from out of his hand, without looking at him or even
acknowledging his presence.
After one such day of rejection, with tears in his eyes, the
Chocolatier decided enough was enough. He racked his brains to
invent the most shocking, attention grabbing chocolate, that would
break through and show his daughter the depths of his love for her.
The next morning the door bell rang. Instead of the usual extravagant
container, there was just a small brown cardboard box. Inside were two
rather plain looking chocolates and a printed note...
"Ingredients: The blood, the body of my son".
The daughter hesitated, her eyes flickered as she began to acknowledge
that someone was reaching out to her, holding the box.
The daughter is each one of us, the Chocolatier is our creator. Every
day it is God who lavishes on us every good thing that we have in our
lives. Yet so often we take it for granted and do not acknowledge him.
He has allowed his own son to die in order to touch our cold and
indifferent hearts and show the depths of his love for us.
Will she slam the door in her father's face again, and will you slam
the door in God's face again, that's up to you.
