IN FOCUS - Our Sunday School |
|
We hold a lively Sunday School every Sunday afternoon from 2:45 PM to 4:00 PM. The
age range is from 4 years of age to 6 years old for infants, 7 years to 10 years
for juniors and 11 years upwards for seniors. There is also a Bible discussion
group for adults. The average attendance is around 45 each week. The aims of the
Sunday School are to teach the children the love of God and of his son the Lord
Jesus for them and to read God's word the Bible which gives hope for the future
of the world and also the people upon it.
There are 2 clubs run for the children during the week juniors on Tuesday evenings
and seniors on Friday evenings. We also hold annual holidays for both age groups,
a wonderful way to learn how to live together as followers of the Lord Jesus.
We look forward to your children joining us on Sunday afternoons to learn together
the way for us all to become God's children.

THOUGHT - "The Beatitudes (The Blessings)" (Matthew Chapter 5:1-12) |
|
This small section in Matthew's Gospel, is among many things, about seeing things
differently, from God's perspective rather than man's. "Blessed are ... the poor in
spirit ... those who mourn ... the meek ... those who hunger and thirst for righteousness ...
the merciful ... the pure in heart ... the peacemakers ... those who are persecuted
because of righteousness" (NIV)
It's a challenge to have a heart with the attributes that Jesus describes here and
it's even harder to want to have it! In Manchester 1998, to be humble, to not be a
pleasure seeker, to have an intense longing for being right with God, to be pure,
to actively seek making peace is just not the done thing. Jesus is saying that to
be like this will make us blessed (=deep down happy). The simple reason for this
is that God loves those who have a humble and contrite (=bruised) heart before
him and that he works for the long-term (eternal) good of such people.
