* IN FOCUS -  Daily Bible Reading Planner
In our community, a large focus is placed on reading the Bible:
Psalms 119:105 "Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light for my path."
Hebrews 4:12 "For the word of God is living and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart."
Across the world, many Christadelphians follow the same daily planner, so that in a year you would read the Old Testament once and the New Testament twice. This has the advantage that we can discuss the Bible much more easily amongst ourselves. It has been said that to not read your Bible regularly is like leaving your mail from God unopened. If you'd like help getting started or just a copy of the "Daily Bible Reading Planner" just get in touch. (contact us)
* THOUGHT -  "The Communication Age"
We are truly in the communication age - you can tell because you need a list of 6 phone numbers, 7 mobile numbers, 3 fax numbers and 10 email addresses to keep in touch with a family of 3!

Mobile phones are so handy, the ability to be constantly in touch with anyone we choose can enhance the feeling of security we have, a quick text message or email can be so easily sent and can be read when it suits us. Many people who use these new methods of communication can't imagine how they would live without the convenience that they bring.

Communication can win battles; it can be the difference between a successful and a failed business. Poor communication can ruin marriages; it can result in frustration and tension that can lead to violence. We have seen tension fairly recently in various areas in the north of England that would seem to have been caused by communities not communicating.

Moses the man of God recognised the power of communication:
Deuteronomy 4:7 "What other nation is so great as to have their gods near them the way the LORD our God is near us whenever we pray to him?"
This was an interesting slant to put on the state of affairs... The Jewish nation had just been led out of Egypt with great wonders and miracles. It would seem that Moses thought that the wonders were not what made their nation great but rather, it was the gift of prayer. Power and greatness came from an intimate and open channel of communication with the creator.

Prayer is unlike any recent method of communication. There is no myriad of confusing tariffs; in fact there are no charges. There are no batteries, no handsets. We are always connected. We can even express raw emotion to God without using words and he understands us perfectly.

When I step back and think about it, I'm astounded! The awesome creator has done so much to make communication with him easy, even for a sinner like me. This is because God has a purpose for us. Prayer is not just about us running to him when we have a problem. It is one of God's ways of supporting those who try to serve him. Through prayer he can encourage and strengthen you and bring his power into your life.
