THOUGHT - "Jesus our Wonderful Councellor" |
|
In our society, counselling is offered to anybody rich or poor, male or female,
black or white, young or old.
The counsellor offers time and attention in order to guide, support, advise and
help people in their time of need. However, in our ordinary lives our culture
denies the value of emotion and feelings and we are instructed to keep them
under control.

A Typical Counselling Session ! ?
Before he was born, Jesus was talked about in Isaiah (chpt. 9 v 6) where it says
he will be called a Wonderful Counsellor. Also Jesus himself uses the Greek word
'parakletos' which translates as 'counsellor' as well as 'comforter', 'helper'
and one who encourages. It literally means 'to come along side and strengthen'.
Jesus wants to come along side you and strengthen you on your journey through life.
He yearns to help and support you and comfort anybody that turns to him.
He is warm and caring.
He empathises with you and understands exactly how you feel.
He listens for feelings as well as for words.
He does not make assumptions.
He is genuine.
He concentrates on you and you are his priority.
He hears you, listens to you and understands you.
No distraction will take him away from you.
He is silent when you need him to be silent.
He responds when the time is right for you. Our prayers may not be answered straight away but he never forgets and he will respond.
He knows what nourishment you need
Jesus is our crisis line as well as our long-term comforter and guide.
Present yourself to the Lord slowly, introduce yourself and he will be patient
and tender. Open your heart and lay your life in his hands. Let Jesus repair
and renew the parts of you that have been eaten away and destroyed. Do not
deny yourself the true counsellor, the mighty one who will take away your fear
and pain. He will stand by your side.
2 Corinthians 1 v 4 "... who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can
comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves have received from
God. For just as the sufferings of Christ flow over into our lives, so also
through Christ our comfort overflows."
P.S. No appointment necessary. Just Talk.
